Tips for Painting Your Mesh

1. Prep the Surface

Lightly sand and clean the mesh with isopropyl alcohol to remove any oils or dust before painting. This helps paint adhere properly and prevents uneven coverage.

2. Use the Right Paint

Acrylic paint or fabric paint works well for mesh. Apply paint in thin layers rather than thick coats to preserve visibility and airflow.

3. Build Color Gradually

Allow each layer to fully dry before applying the next. This helps prevent:

  • Clogged mesh holes
  • Paint bleeding through
  • Reduced ventilation

4. Clearing Clogged Holes

If paint clogs the mesh openings:

  • Use a gentle blast of air before the paint dries, or
  • Carefully clear the hole with a fine needle once dry.

5. Fixing Bleed-Through

If paint bleeds through to the reverse side, it can usually be wiped clean from the back before sealing.

6. Seal for Durability

Once the paint is completely dry, apply a clear acrylic sealant spray (matte recommended) to protect your design from scratches and smudging.

Application tips:

  • Spray lightly and evenly
  • Hold the can 8–12 inches away
  • Apply multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat

⚠️ Important Note
The mesh is sensitive to high heat. Adhesives such as hot glue can deform the mesh, so use caution when attaching it with heat-based adhesives.
